The Sentimental Journeymen hosted a hugely entertaining show for nearly 400 fans in March, following a successful Singing Valentines program the previous month. Our stellar lineup of guest quartets included: Main Street (2017 International Champion); Singing Double (2020 Junior Quartet Champ); and Upshot! (top-10 International Seniors quartet). We were fortunate to get this show onstage when we did, because a week later the entire county (and state) was shut down due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Sentimental Journeymen sang at the March 2019 convention, performing Over the Rainbow and After You’ve Gone. We received valuable input and coaching from the judges at the evaluation session afterward and then enjoyed performances by other choruses and lots of quartets. The 2020 Spring convention and contests unfortunately were cancelled due to the spreading COVID-19 virus.
At the Spring, 2018 contest we competed against 8 other choruses. We sang When I Fall In Love and Sweet Georgia Brown. We placed 5th in the state. We received some encouraging comments from the judges and positive feedback on how to improve our future performances.
Spring contest, 2017 was an exciting experience. We competed against 12 other choruses and placed 5th in the state. We received several positive comments from the judges that we will be implementing in the next few months. The directors did an excellent job with their music choices and direction and we are looking forward to placing even higher next year.
